SRINAGAR, Indian-administered Kashmir (CNN) -- A Kashmiri boy was killed Monday and four other children were critically wounded when a hand grenade they found in a field exploded as they were playing with it, police said.

The incident happened in the village of Dasar -- 25 miles (40 km) south of the summer capital, Srinagar.

Hundreds of residents in the Village of Tral held a protest march Monday, following the death of Gulam Ahmed Mir, 48, while he was in police custody overnight. Tral is 28 miles (45 km) south of Srinagar.

Residents alleged Indian security forces killed Mir during interrogation. Senior officers from Indian Administrative Services have promised to investigate.
