ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- An explosion in the southern Pakistan city of Karachi has killed one person and injured seven others, police say.

Saturday's blast was caused by a remote-controlled bomb which ripped through a mini-bus carrying teachers and other staff to an Islamic school on the outskirts of Karachi.

Another person in a separate car was wounded in a vehicle accident that followed the blast around 7 a.m.(10 p.m. Friday ET), according to Fayyaz Leghari, deputy inspector-general of Karachi police.

Leghari said Mohammed Azam, an electrician at the Jamia Rashidia school, died in the blast.

The impact of the explosion left a crater in the ground, police said.

Police believe the vehicle carrying the school workers was the target of the bomb, although they have not said who they suspect is behind the attack.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility.
