ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Two foreign fighters and a Pakistani paramilitary soldier were killed Wednesday after a gun battle in the tribal areas of southern Waziristan, according to Pakistani intelligence officials.
Seven Pakistani forces were also injured in the battle, which happened in the town of Ladha, about 32 kilometers (20 miles) north of Wana.
Pakistan is a key ally of the United States in the war against terrorism, and its soldiers have been scouring the rugged northwest border region of Pakistan for renegade Taliban and al Qaeda members being harbored by tribes.
On Tuesday, Pakistani paramilitary forces Tuesday killed an al Qaeda member and arrested three others in Wana, the main town in southern Waziristan.
In the North Waziristan tribal region, four paramilitary troops were killed and three others wounded Monday in an explosion blamed on al Qaeda operatives.
