Soldier dies in Philippines blast

MANILA, Philippines (CNN) -- A soldier was killed and two other people wounded when a bomb exploded outside a restaurant Saturday in Zamboanga, authorities said.
The explosion came as the soldier was trying to defuse the device in front of the Honey Bee restaurant.
Some officials blamed the blast on Abu Sayyaf, one of several Islamic militant groups fighting the government on the country's southern islands.
The group has been linked by Washington to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network. Abu Sayyaf members have been blamed for a number of terror attacks across the Philippines.
