(CNN) -- Eight British tourists were killed in South Africa when their bus swerved to avoid a pedestrian on the road and crashed.
The accident happened as the tourists were going to the Royal Natal National Park, said a British Foreign Office spokeswoman in London Thursday.
The male pedestrian also died in the crash on Wednesday afternoon on the R74 road between Harrismith and Bergville, according to the UK Press Association.
The victims from the bus were five men and three women. Two other Britons and a Canadian were also injured along with a South African driver and a tour guide.
