(CNN) -- I take planes like most people take buses.
When I'm in my racing season, I travel all over Europe -- all of the time.
I could be in a two-day camp in South Africa and then the next day be at a race in Spain.
I actually kept my boarding passes this past season and I've got quite a collection so far. I think I counted 35 of them altogether. That's just over a three-month period so it's a bit like another day, another plane. Well not quite, but sometimes it seems like that.
If there was no air travel, I wouldn't be able to race overseas and I wouldn't have an international career. I simply wouldn't be able to do what I do.
I've been living in South Africa until recently and without airplanes, there would be no trips home to see my family and friends.
One of my favorite airlines is British Airways, especially in business class on long-haul flights. I fly with them a lot, their flat beds have a lot to do with that.
Being able to lie down when you're in the air is something I really appreciate. That to me is almost as significant as the development of air travel itself.
It's so important for me to be rested before a big race. If I had to sit in a chair for the entire long-haul flight -- sometimes 12 or so hours at a time -- I'd be all cramped up and it would have an impact on my performance.
There's no doubt about it: planes for me are just so necessary.
