NEWCASTLE, England -- English Premier League leaders Arsenal extended their unbeaten league run to 32 matches this season with a 0-0 draw at fifth-placed Newcastle.
The stalemate left the Gunners seven points clear of second-placed Chelsea with six matches left.
"We are in good position and you know we have a little cushion there, but not big enough to say we feel comfortable with the lead we have," said Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal were knocked out of the Champions League last week by Chelsea and had to come from behind twice to beat Liverpool 4-2 on Friday.
"My players responded marvellously -- they showed great mental strength," said Wenger.
Newcastle, seeking a top four finish to claim a place in the Champions League, are tied on points with fourth-placed Liverpool.
French striker Thierry Henry, the hat-trick hero of Arsenal's win over Liverpool, went closest to breaking the deadlock when he hit the post shooting at an empty net after rounding Newcastle keeper Shay Given early in the second half.
Jose Antonio Reyes also wasted a great chance to score shortly afterwards, heading straight at Given from Henry's cross.
Amazing achievement
Newcastle's best chance came early in the game when Arsenal keeper Jans Lehmann just managed to get his fingertips to Gary Speed's backheel following a cross from Alan Shearer.
Magpies coach Bobby Robson hailed Arsenal's unbeaten run as an "amazing achievement," but insisted his side were not far behind the Gunners.
"Arsenal are where we want to be, but on the evidence of what we have already we're not far behind. What we need is investment to get where they are," said Robson.
"There was hardly anything between the two sides. No one made any mistakes -- there were no free presents here today. There was a big battle in midfield, and the defenders were on top of the attackers, nullifing any shots.
"We've shown resilience and character after a lot of football this week."
Chelsea could cut Arsenal's lead to four points on Monday when they visit Aston Villa.
