Genk coach Vergoossen leaves post
BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Racing Genk coach Sef Vergoossen and his assistant Jos Daerden have left their posts, the Belgian club's official website reported on Tuesday.
Genk, sixth in the first division, had said on Monday they would be looking for a new coaching team for next season.
They also said Vergoossen and Daerden would be allowed to keep their jobs until the end of the current campaign -- but now the duo have departed.
Genk coaching staff members Pierre Denier and Ronny Vangeneugden will now take control of the team for the last six league games of the season.
Vergoossen and Daerden had been in charge at Genk since 2001 and guided them to the Belgian title in 2002.
