Rangers too strong for Dunfermline
GLASGOW, Scotland -- Rangers warmed up for Sunday's Glasgow derby with runaway Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic by thrashing Dunfermline Athletic 4-1.
The Scottish champions are still 16 points behind Celtic but will hope to salvage some pride against their Old Firm rivals if they repeat a first-half display against Dunfermline in which they netted four times in 28 minutes.
They move onto 67 points from 29 games with Celtic still well ahead in the standings on 83. Both have nine league matches to play.
Alan Hutton put the home side ahead on two minutes and Peter Lovenkrands made it 2-0 nine minutes later.
Andy Tod pulled one back for the visitors but Rangers put the game beyond doubt before the half-hour mark with further goals from Ronald de Boer on 26 minutes and Michael Mols two minutes later.
