Trezeguet a 'target' for Barcelona
PARIS, France -- Spanish giants Barcelona, looking to bolster next season's strike force, have made Frenchman David Trezeguet their top target, sports daily L'Equipe said.
Trezeguet has not yet signed a new contract with Juventus -- his current deal expires in June next year -- and says he'd like the matter resolved before Euro 2004.
Jorge Trezeguet, the player's father and agent told L'Equipe that Juventus had not kept a promise made three years ago to review Trezeguet's contract as long as the team proved successful.
"Since (three years ago) Juventus has twice been champions of Italy and has reached the Champions League final," Jorge said. "David was the league's top scorer in 2002 (24 goals). This sticks in the throat."
Trezeguet, 26, joined Juventus in 2000 and has scored 76 goals in 124 league and European appearances.
A regular in the French national team, Trezeguet has notched 28 goals in 48 internationals.
