Ronaldo faces a two-week layoff
MADRID, Spain -- Ronaldo will be sidelined for about two weeks with a tear in his left thigh muscle, ruling him out of Real Madrid's Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
The Brazilian striker, who leads the Spanish league with 22 goals in 27 matches, will also miss next weekend's league match against Zaragoza, Madrid doctor Alfonso del Corral said.
"He will definitely be out for the games against Bayern, and Zaragoza in the Spanish league, and his presence in the Copa del Rey looks complicated," Del Corral said after a medical check Sunday at the Ruber Clinic.
The nine-time European champions will be playing at home after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Bayern. On March 17, Madrid again faces Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey final.
"It could have been a lot worse," said Del Corral, according to Real Madrid's Web site. "If the muscle damage had been bigger we'd be looking at four-to-six weeks out."
Ronaldo left the field Saturday in the 74th minute after feeling a tear in his left leg. The league leaders were held to a 1-1 draw by host Racing Santander but retained first place in the league.
