King signs new deal with Tottenham
LONDON, England -- England defender Ledley King has signed a new four-year deal to stay at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old's current contract expired in 2005.
"Both the club and the player are delighted to have agreed the new deal," King's agent said in a statement.
"His recent performances as a holding midfielder have pleased caretaker manager David Pleat but it was a magnificent display at his favored center-half position in the recent England friendly against Portugal which caught the eye of players and fans alike."
King scored on his England debut against the Portuguese earlier this month.
