Swiss Xamax have sacked coach Ryf
GENEVA, Switzerland (Reuters) -- Neuchatel Xamax have sacked coach Claude Ryf after the club slipped to the bottom of the Swiss first division.
Xamax's board of directors took the decision after Sunday's 2-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Wil left Neuchatel four points adrift at the foot of the table.
Ryf, who had been in charge at the Maladiere club for one and a half years, has been offered the position of director of football.
Last season, Xamax finished fourth in the league to qualify for the UEFA Cup, and were also beaten finalists in the Swiss Cup.
