King called up for Portugal match
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Tottenham Hotspur's Ledley King has been called into the England squad in place of injured center back Sol Campbell for Wednesday's friendly against Portugal.
Campbell pulled out of Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad for the game in Loule after aggravating a groin injury in Arsenal's 2-1 FA Cup fifth round win over Chelsea on Sunday.
King, 23, made his England debut against Italy in 2002 and has won two caps.
"Ledley is another good young player that we have. I have seen him play several times this season. He is strong and skilful and can play in many positions. It will be good to have him with us," Eriksson said.
England are already without suspended Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand for the game against the Euro 2004 hosts, which is part of both teams' preparations for the tournament starting on June 12.
