Olembe keen to continue Leeds loan
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Loan signing Salomon Olembe is happy to stay with Leeds despite offers from Premier League rivals, the Cameroon player said on Friday.
Midfielder Olembe, 22, who joined Leeds last August from Marseille, told skysports.com: "I have instructed my agent Willie Mackay not to pursue any options of leaving Leeds.
"I am only thinking of staying at Leeds and helping them avoid relegation as I have loved my time so far at the club," he said.
Mackay is also agent for French defenders Didier Domi and Zoumana Camara, who, says a report on the club's website, were set to leave Leeds on Thursday after it was agreed their contracts would be cancelled.
However, the report says it understands the pair refused to sign until agent Mackay finds them a new club.
Leeds have until Monday to find the five million pounds ($9.2 million) they need to cover their operating costs until the end of the season after agreeing a reprieve with creditors, who are owed more than 80 million pounds ($147.6m).
Olembe, like fellow loan signing Lamine Sakho of Sengegal, is on duty at the African Nations Cup starting in Tunis on Saturday.
There has been pressure on Leeds to sell top players but newspapers have reported that the club has rejected a combined five million pound ($9.2m) offer from Tottenham for goalkeeper Paul Robinson and striker James Milner.
Newcastle are reportedly lining up a $9.2m offer for England forward Alan Smith, but Leeds said on Thursday they would not sell.
