Auxerre sign Czech defender Bolf
AUXERRE, France (Reuters) -- Czech Republic central defender Rene Bolf will join French side Auxerre from Banik Ostrava at the end of the season.
"Bolf is a very experienced central defender," Auxerre coach Guy Roux told journalists, adding the player had passed a medical.
Bolf will replace France international Jean-Alain Boumsong who is joining Scottish club Rangers.
"We spent a day together. He is a very straightforward man and he has overpowered players such as Patrick Kluivert and Ruud Van Nistlerooy."
The club gave no details of the contract. The 29-year-old Bolf has been named in the Czech Republic Euro 2004 squad and appeared in all their qualifying games.
Boumsong, who has three caps, signed an agreement in December to join Rangers on a five-year contract.
