Struggling Zaragoza dismiss Flores
MADRID, Spain -- Spanish strugglers Real Zaragoza have sacked coach Paco Flores following their 4-1 defeat at Deportivo Coruna on Sunday.
"Having considered the situation in which the first team finds itself, the board have decided to end the contract of team coach Paco Flores," Zaragoza, who have dropped to 18th in the 20-team Liga, said in a statement.
"The board have agreed to start immediate negotiations to find a new coach in as short a time as possible."
Zaragoza face Barcelona in the first leg of their King's Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Former Villarreal coach Victor Munoz is favorite to succeed Flores.
Flores joined Zaragoza two seasons ago after guiding Espanyol to victory in the King's Cup in 2000 and immediately won them promotion from the second division.
