Madrid face Valencia in King's Cup
MADRID, Spain (Reuters) -- League leaders Valencia will play second-placed Real Madrid in the outstanding King's Cup quarterfinal tie after the draw was made on Friday.
Valencia will start as marginal favorites for the two-legged tie after claiming a 2-0 home win over Real in their last meeting in the league in September.
Real will also remember with embarrassment the 6-0 defeat they suffered when the teams last met in the Cup in the opening leg of their semifinal in 1999.
Valencia went on to win the tie 7-2 on aggregate.
Barcelona, who survived a scare against Levante in midweek, will take on Real Zaragoza, Sevilla play Atletico Madrid, and Alaves, the only second division side left in the competition, face Celta Vigo.
The ties will be played in the weeks commencing January 19 and 26.
