Striker McBride a Blackburn target
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- English Premiership side Blackburn Rovers have made an offer to Major League Soccer for American striker Brian McBride of the Columbus Crew.
Crew spokesman Jeff Wuerth said team and league officials are in discussions about the move, which would reunite McBride with compatriot Brad Friedel, a former Crew goalkeeper.
McBride, 31, was loaned by the Crew last season to Premiership Everton where he scored four goals in six matches before returning to the United States.
The player has also spent time at Preston North End and Germany's VFL Wolfsburg.
MLS sold MetroStars goalkeeper Tim Howard to Manchster United last year for about four million dollars.
Another Premiership side, Fulham, penned a three-year deal with American Carlos Bocanegra, who played with Chicago of MLS last season. Bocanegra played out his contract with the Fire.
