BARCELONA, Spain -- Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids was unveiled as a Barcelona player on Monday after completing his loan move from Italian champions Juventus.
The combative 30-year-old passed a medical on Monday after finalizing the deal in late night talks with Barca president Joan Laporta.
"He's one of those players who's recognized everywhere in the world," Laporta told reporters.
"He's another star for the club, following the signing of Ronaldinho before the start of the season."
Barca, coached by Dutchman Frank Rijkaard, have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season when Davids' contract at Juve expires.
Davids will also join up with international teammates Patrick Kluivert, Michael Reiziger, Philip Coco, Marc Overmars and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Davids had been with Juve since 1997, winning two league titles and helping the Turin side to last year's Champions League final. He also won the European Cup with Ajax in 1995 and has 57 caps for the Netherlands.
"He's in good shape," said Barca team doctor Jordi Ardevol. "There's room for improvement but he's good."
