STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- UEFA president Lennart Johansson is feeling fit after having surgery to remove a tumor from his large intestine, Swedish media reported on Saturday.
"It could have been dangerous if it hadn't been take care of, but I get examined regularly and we were there in time," Johansson said.
"The operation was pure routine. My fitness and working ability are back, so there are no problems."
The 74-year-old Swede had been scheduled to deliver a welcome speech before the draw for Euro 2004 in Lisbon late last November, but pulled out on the advice of his doctors.
Johansson, whose fourth term as UEFA supremo ends in two years, also missed the draw for the 2006 World Cup qualifying groups in Frankfurt a week later.
"I feel splendid. They have made analyses and found that I am clean," he added.
