ROME, Italy -- A first half goal from Emanuele Filillini lifted troubled Parma to a 1-0 win over Inter Milan and fifth place in Italy's Serie A.
Filillini scored into an open net on 41 minutes after Inter keeper Francesco Toldo failed to intercept Marcello Castellini's cross.
In Saturday's other match, Udinese and Chievo played out a goalless draw.
Parma's players received a standing ovation as they left the field at the Tardini stadium at the end of a week in which club president, Stefano Tanzi, and his entire board resigned as the club was put up for sale at the end of the season.
Parma have been thrown into crisis by the disclosure that food company Parmalat, which owned the club, is missing $8.75 billion from its accounts.
"We were never afraid and we looked to put them under pressure every time we got the ball," said Parma coach Cesare Prandelli.
"For the umpteenth time this team showed they have quality and not just footballing quality.
"I have been trying to transmit to the players the need to stay together as a team and focus on our job on the field, leaving others to resolve other problems."
Parma keeper Sebastien Frey made a series of great saves to frustrate Inter, who dominated possession, but Christian Vieri wasted their best chance before Parma's goal, hitting the crossbar with a powerful header.
Inter's second loss in three matches left them in fourth, but five points behind leaders Roma and only one ahead of Parma.
On Sunday Roma face Perugia, defending champions Juventus visit Sampdoria and AC Milan play Reggina.
