PARIS, France -- Paris Saint Germain took advantage of Lyon's defeat at Monaco to claim second place in the French first division with a 1-0 win over Lille.

PSG went ahead on 13 minutes when Greek defender Stathis Tavlaridis' deflected Reinaldo's shot into his own net.

But PSG still trail leaders Monaco by seven points following their 3-0 win on Friday.

"It was a difficult match," said PSG coach Vahid Halilhodzic, previously in charge at Lille.

"We stopped playing after we scored. It's a shame but today the main thing was to win."

Auxerre climbed to fourth with a 2-0 win over Marseille.

Marseille's new keeper Fabien Barthez was at fault for Auxerre's first, with Teemu Tainio taking advantage of a hasty clearance to score after four minutes.

Auxerre doubled their lead 12 minutes later when Barthez was cleverly wrong-footed by Bonaventure Kalou.

In other matches, fifth-placed Sochaux drew 0-0 with Nice and Bordeaux climbed to eighth with a 2-1 win at Montpellier.

Moumouni Dagano scored his second straight hat-trick as struggling Guingamp beat Strasbourg 3-2. Metz remained above the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Bastia, while Lens and Nantes drew 0-0.
