Romania's Ilie signs for Besiktas
BUCHAREST, Romania -- Romanian striker Adrian Ilie is set to re-launch his career with Turkish league leaders Besiktas.
Ilie, who hasn't played in a year after falling out with Spanish side Alaves, has agreed a six-month deal with the Istanbul side.
"The contract has been drafted," said Ilie. "It might be extended for two more years if both sides agree in the summer."
Ilie previously spent two years with Besiktas' archrivals Galatasaray before moving to Valencia in 1997.
Besiktas face the Spanish side in next month's UEFA Cup third round.
