Wenzel transfers to Kaiserslautern
BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- Stuttgart defender Timo Wenzel is moving to fellow Bundesliga club Kaiserslautern.
Wenzel's contract with Stuttgart was due to run until June 30 this year but the 26-year-old will now start training with Kaiserslautern on Friday.
Neither club would give details of the deal beyond saying that Wenzel's contract runs until 2006.
The defender told Kaiserslautern's official Web site: "I proved in Stuttgart that I can get results... I want to help Kaiserslautern and I think I can."
Kaiserslautern, four-times German champions, are 15th in the 18-strong Bundesliga after 17 games, one place above the relegation zone.
Germany striker Miroslav Klose has said he may leave the struggling western German club during the winter break, which ends on January 31.
Stuttgart are four points behind leaders Werder Bremen in fourth place but level on 35 points with the other two clubs above them -- Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
• Struggling Cologne have signed midfielder Albert Streit from Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg on loan until the end of the season. Cologne also have an option to buy the 23-year-old, depending on whether or not they are relegated.
