Newcastle prepared for Solano sale
NEWCASTLE, England -- Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson has said that he will listen to offers for Peruvian midfield man Nolberto Solano.
Solano has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, but Robson said their Premier League rivals had yet to make a firm bid for the player.
"If an offer came in for Solano, then we would listen to it," confirmed Robson.
"There is something in the air with Villa but David O'Leary has not been on the phone to me and they have put no offer on the table."
He added: "If there is genuine interest in one of my players, a club should come through the front door, not the back door."
Solano upset his manager in October when he walked out of the club after being dropped from a league game against Middlesbrough.
The 29-year-old has started 17 games for Newcastle this season, after recently reclaiming a first-team place.
