Stuttgart bid for Henchoz rejected

STUTTGART, Germany -- Bundesliga high fliers Stuttgart have had a bid for Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz rejected.

Stuttgart coach Felix Magath revealed he had offered $3.8 million for the Swiss international.

"Liverpool were not prepared to talk about a transfer," said Magath.

"We need more than pocket change for a transfer like that."

As well as challening for the German title, Stuttgart are preparing to face Chelsea in the second round of the Champions League next month.
