Mancini linked with Tottenham post
LONDON, England -- English Premiership club Tottenham are interested in making Lazio coach Roberto Mancini their new manager, his agent has said.
Athole Still said: "I've heard there has been interest but there have been no official discussions and there are many complications."
Tottenham sacked Glenn Hoddle in September six matches into the season and director of football David Pleat and first-team coach Chris Hughton were handed control until the end of the season.
But pressure has been mounting to make a permanent appointment after Spurs slipped into the bottom three, with just 18 points from 19 matches.
Mancini is contracted to stay at Lazio for another four years, although Lazio's sporting director Oreste Cinquini admitted that the former Italian international could quit at the end of this season.
"The club at the moment is undergoing a difficult time so we cannot guarantee he will remain next season," said Cinquini.
"But Mancini will remain at Lazio this season. That is certain."
Mancini played six games in the English league for Leicester in 2001, at the end of his playing career, before returning home to take charge at Fiorentina.
Cinquini admitted Mancini could be persuaded to move to the Premiership.
"He loves England and he speaks good English, so he has always said that he wouldn't mind in the future coaching in England," said Cinquini.
