Dabizas is on the way to Leicester
LEICESTER, England -- Leicester City have agreed terms with Greece defender Nikos Dabizas, who is moving from English Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
Leicester manager Micky Adams said: "Nikos is an experienced international defender and his arrival will bring added competition to places in this area of the squad."
The 30-year-old Dabizas, who has 55 international caps, could play in Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester City.
He joined Newcastle in 1998 for 2 million pounds ($3.58 million) from Greek club Olympiakos, playing more than 150 matches for the north-east club before falling out of favor with manager Sir Bobby Robson last season.
Blackburn chase Izzet
Leicester's Turkey midfielder Muzzy Izzet is wanted by Blackburn Rovers.
Barry Ferguson's broken kneecap has left Rovers a midfielder short and with the 29-year-old Izzet out of contract at the end of the summer, relegation-threatened Leicester know they could lose him for nothing on a Bosman free-transfer.
Rovers manager Graeme Souness said: "Muzzy is one name we have identified and he is a target. He is a skilful player who we have watched for quite a while now.
"Barry's injury has obviously intensified that search, but regardless of the injury he picked up recently, Muzzy was still a name in the frame."
