Bolton snap up goalkeeper Ricketts
BOLTON, England -- Bolton Wanderers are signing goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and the Jamaican could make his debut in Saturday's FA Cup third round tie at Tranmere.
Ricketts is due to sign a loan deal with the Premiership club and could seal a permanent move at the end of the season.
Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Wanderers' main transfer window target is Atletico Madrid striker Javi Moreno.
But despite the confirmation of multi-millionaire businessman Eddie Davies' takeover of Bolton their manager is worried that money may still be in short supply.
"We know who we're after but it's about whether we can afford them," Allardyce said.
"It's the old story. I have to present a player to the chairman and then I find out whether I can afford him or not.
"The financial restrictions are a problem because I don't have a budget. I find a player and the club tries to find the money and that makes life difficult.
"If I'd had a budget I could have concluded all our business in the first week or two, which is what I was hoping to do.
"But I have to be patient, which is something I'm not good at. But it won't stop me wheeling and dealing. If Javi Moreno is a deal I think we can do, or if another player comes available, I'll go to the chairman.
"If the money isn't there I will wheel and deal, although for every player who goes out I need to bring in two because we're so short in the first place."
