Wallace back in Ireland limelight
DUBLIN, Ireland -- David Wallace, surprisingly left out of Ireland's World Cup squad, returned to the fold when he was named for the final Six Nations game against Scotland.
With Keith Gleeson ruled out for two months with a broken arm, coach Eddie O'Sullivan has turned to Wallace to fill the back-row vacancy at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, on Saturday.
It will be Wallace's first international appearance since a try-scoring outing in the final World Cup friendly against the Scots at Murrayfield.
Lock Paul O'Connell, who has recovered from a rib problem, replaces Donnacha O'Callaghan while skipper Brian O'Driscoll wins his 50th cap.
Meanwhile Malcolm O'Kelly's 64th appearance makes him the most capped second row in Irish history, eclipsing the record set by Ireland and Lions captain Willie John McBride.
O'Kelly is just six caps short of the all-time Irish record, set by Mike Gibson between 1964 and 1979.
If the Irish triumph by a huge margin over the winless Scottish side, they could secure their first Six Nations championship since 1985.
For that to happen England must also shade title favorites France in Paris.
O'Sullivan's side should at least register Ireland's first Triple Crown in 19 years.
