French blow as Elissalde ruled out
TOULOUSE, France -- France's Jean-Baptiste Elissalde, man of the match in Sunday's win over Wales, has been ruled out of the rest of the Six Nations with a torn hamstring.
The scrum-half, who scored 24 points in the 29-22 win, found out the extent of the injury which saw him limp off in Cardiff when he had a scan on Tuesday.
"Jean-Baptiste underwent tests this morning and there is bad news. He will be out of action for six weeks," Toulouse coach Guy Noves said.
"He won't be able to play France's last two games against Scotland (March 21) and England (March 27) and he's also been ruled out of Toulouse's European Cup quarterfinal against Edinburgh (April 10)."
The Toulouse scrum-half scored a 40-meter try and kicked two conversions and five penalties against Wales before going off seven minutes from time.
Dimitri Yachvili, who replaced him at the Millennium Stadium, will almost certainly become first-choice when head coach Bernard Laporte names his side on Wednesday.
