Bevan injured in Melbourne washout
MELBOURNE, Australia (Reuters) -- Australia's triangular series one-dayer against Zimbabwe on Thursday was washed out and declared a no result.
Heavy rain prevented Zimbabwe from replying to the home team's total of 263 for nine.
One-day specialist Michael Bevan made a run-a-ball half-century, but was then ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured rib.
The 33-year-old left-hander, who did not hit a boundary until shortly before reaching his 46th one-day half-century, was run out in the 49th over for 56.
"I just got hit under the ribs and felt some discomfort," said Bevan, who suffered the injury while batting in the nets earlier in the week.
"Halfway through the innings tonight I just felt it go a little bit worse than what it had in the past."
Australia, on 31 points, and India, on 23, have already qualified for next month's series final. Zimbabwe are without a victory in seven matches.
The final two matches of the round-robin series are Australia against India in Perth on Sunday followed by India against Zimbabwe in the same city two days later.
The first of the best-of-three final will be played in Melbourne on February 6.
