Tillakaratne keeps Sri Lankan job

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (Reuters) -- Hashan Tillakaratne will continue as Sri Lanka's test captain and Marvan Atapattu as one-day skipper for Australia's six-week tour of the country starting next month.

"The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved the appointment of Hashan Tillakaratne as test captain and Marvan Atapattu as one-day captain for the forthcoming Australia tour," the Sri Lankan cricket board said.

But board vice-president Aravinda de Silva said Atapattu would soon be appointed test skipper as well.

"Marvan knows that it is only a matter of time before he is handed over the Sri Lanka Test captaincy," de Silva told reporters. "He's aware of it and he has been told that he will be Hashan's Tillakaratne successor."

Australia are scheduled to play five one-day internationals and three tests in Sri Lanka.
