Schumacher could extend his career
ROME, Italy -- Six-time Formula One World champion Michael Schumacher said Thursday he may continue to race after his contract with Ferrari ends in 2006.
"If I still feel the same motivation I could continue to race," he said at a press conference at the team's winter retreat in the Dolomites.
"When we extended the contract to 2006, the president (Luca di Montezemolo) told me: 'Stay as long as you like, as long as you are motivated and quick'.
"There is no reason to close doors for the future. If I feel then as I do now then it is an open future."
Schumacher, 35, welcomed Wednesday's news that team-mate Rubens Barrichello had extended his contract with the team until 2006.
"Honestly, there is no better choice than Rubens to be with us," said the German, describing the decision as "natural and logical".
