Flavell suspended over broken nose
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- New Zealand Barbarians lock Troy Flavell has been handed a four-week ban for a swinging arm tackle that left England's Richard Hill with a broken nose.
Flavell was not punished by French referee Joel Jutge after catching Hill with his right arm in the Barbarians' 42-17 defeat at Twickenham last month, but the player was cited by England.
Hill, a member of England's World Cup-winning team, had already suffered a cut eye requiring 13 stitches before he was caught by Flavell an hour into the match.
Flavell, who has played 15 times for the All Blacks, was found guilty by a Rugby Football Union disciplinary hearing and will be suspended from March 1-28.
He has 48 hours in which to appeal.
