VEYSONNAZ, Switzerland -- Austrian Renate Goetschl was in a class of her own when she won a women's Alpine ski World Cup downhill race on Saturday.

The 1999 world champion collected the 16th downhill win of her career, pushing compatriot Michaela Dorfmeister and German Hilde Gerg into joint second place by 0.49 seconds.

World Cup overall leader Anja Paerson of Sweden, a newcomer to downhill, finished out of the points, 2.58 seconds behind Goetschl in Veysonnaz.

Goetschl recorded a time of 1min 38.58 seconds for her third World Cup win of the season, with Dorfmeister and Gerg inseparable on 1:39.47.

"I am happy to be among the best," said Goetschl.

"It means a lot when you are a ski racer. I don't count the victories and it isn't a goal, but when you realize it has happened, it feels good."

Americans filled the next two places with Kirsten Clark fourth, 0.59 seconds behind Goetschl, and Caroline Lalive fifth.

The race was interrupted for repairs to the course after Switzerland's Martina Schild and Frenchwoman Melanie Suchet missed the same gate on a tricky turn.

Both were allowed to restart but finished outside the top 10.

Super-G rearranged

Swiss resort of St Moritz has been rescheduled for Italy's Cortina d'Ampezzo next Wednesday.

The race will be added to a busy week of racing in Cortina, which is already hosting another super-G and two downhills from Friday to Sunday next week, the International Ski Federation said in a statement from its Swiss headquarters.
