LONDON, England -- England named a 15-man Test squad for their tour of the Caribbean in March, but left a place open for fast bowler Simon Jones.

The Glamorgan player, who hasn't played Test cricket since rupturing his cruciate knee ligament 14 months ago in Australia, will travel with the England A squad to India in February in a bid to prove his fitness.

Fast bowler Richard Johnson, who requires knee surgery, is the only omission from the squad beaten in Sri Lanka last month.

He is replaced by Steve Harmison, who missed the Sri Lankan series because of a side strain sustained during the previous series in Bangladesh.

Jones is expected to be added the squad, who play four tests against the West Indies, once his return to fitness is beyond doubt.

"As Simon has been out of first-class cricket for more than a year, we will be closely monitoring his form and fitness on the A tour of India with a view to adding him to the test squad in the Caribbean," said chairman of selectors David Graveney.

England also named a 13-man one-day squad for a seven-match series against the West Indies in April, dropping batsman Vikram Solanki.

Michael Vaughan captains both sides.
