SYDNEY, Australia -- Hungary advanced to the Hopman Cup mixed teams tennis tournament in Australia for the first time with a 2-1 qualifying win over Canada.

Petra Mandula and Attila Savolt rallied from a set down in the deciding doubles against Maureen Drake and Frank Dancevic, winning the final set 10-3 in a tiebreaker.

The Canadians had taken the first set 6-3, but the Hungarians won the second 6-1.

In the singles, Hungary had taken a 1-0 lead in the tie when Mandula beat Drake 6-3 6-2, but Dancevic leveled by beating Savolt 6-4 6-3.

Hungary now face hosts Australia in the opening match of the tournament on Sunday, also joining Belgium and Slovakia in Group B.

Defending champions United States, represented by Lindsay Davenport and James Blake, are in Group A with Russia, France and the Czech Republic.
