(CNN) -- Kobe Bryant's accuser has been subpoenaed by defense attorneys to testify about parts of her sexual history and is scheduled to take the stand for the first time Tuesday, CNN has learned.
Prosecutors will not object to her appearance, but want the scope of the questioning limited. The testimony would most likely be given in a closed session of the Eagle, Colorado, court, without the news media or public present.
Earlier this week, the judge in the sexual assault case agreed to hold a hearing on whether some of the woman's sexual history is relevant to the case. Attorneys for Bryant subpoenaed the accuser as part of that hearing.
In papers filed with the court, the prosecution has voiced its concern about the defense's tactics.
"The defense intends to humiliate and embarrass her with allegations of conduct which have no bearing on this case whatsoever," District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said.
It is not clear what type of questioning the prosecution objects to.
The defense has submitted information about its questions to Judge Terry Ruckriegle. That information is being kept under seal.
Bryant's attorneys allege that injuries the accuser says she suffered at the hands of Bryant could have come from another sexual partner. Prosecutors say the woman's sexual past, her medical history, and alleged alcohol and drug use are irrelevant to the case.
Bryant, a 25-year-old guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, could be sentenced to four years to life in prison or 20 years to life on probation if a jury convicts him of felony sexual assault.
The married father of a young daughter said he had consensual sex with the 19-year-old woman, a former employee of a mountain resort where he stayed last summer. The incident took place June 30 and was reported to authorities July 1.
The case is expected to go to trial this spring.
