(CNN) -- During the eight weeks of the New You Resolution program, participants are keeping a journal. Experts recommend journal-keeping in helping to set goals and implement action for change. Below are excerpts from participant Kimberley Everett's journal from the past week, with the most current at the top.
February 19
Most of the day, I have felt nervous about the program ending. I'm worried about gaining weight and returning to bad habits.
Things I did today to be healthier: Packed breakfast, plan on working out
Today, I treated myself by: having a small amount of spinach dip with co-worker (it's all about portion control!)
My biggest accomplishment today was: Not eating more spinach dip.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate today as a 7.
February 16
Today, I'm getting measured for the last time, and I am nervous.
Most of the day I felt nervous and tired. Right now, I feel hungry!
My biggest accomplishment was: losing 10 pounds. I am really shocked!
Honestly, I was at work all day worried about what the scale would say and to my surprise, I have accomplished much more than I imagined. (Thanks so much to Melinda and Sonya [trainer and nutritionist]) I am telling everyone: get a trainer!!
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate today as a 10.
January 29
Today's food:
Breakfast: 2 slices whole grain toast with margarine and strawberry jelly; 1 blueberry yogurt; 1 cup of chamomile tea with spendad and 2 creamers
Snack: Oats and honey bars (2 in a pack)
Lunch: 1 piece of catfish with the Total cereal crust (Cooking Light recipe); spinach salad with tomatoes and 2 spoons of fat-free Caesar dressing; 1 nectarine
Dinner : Lean cuisine; 1 cheese stick; pineapples -- about 1 and ½ cups (I packed my lunch and dinner because I am working tonight)
January 27
My goal today: Remember to add extra fruit and vegetables into diet; spoke with Sonya the nutritionist and she suggested MORE, MORE , MORE
Most of the day I felt stressed to do everything. I am overwhelmed today and not enough sleep last night!!
I am most grateful for: My personal trainer Melinda Gore. I think everyone needs a Melinda in their life to get them started. I am still not a workout person but hopefully I will be in four more weeks.
January 15
Today, I did 25 minutes on treadmill in my home gym. I also did 60 crunches while watching TV. I am looking forward to the weekend -- a little fun and a lot of rest!
January 9
Things I did today to be healthier: proper nutrition, so no processed foods today!
I am most grateful for: The ability to change my lifestyle before it gets out of hand.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the day as a 9.
January 8
I am most grateful for: The fact that I feel that I have had a pretty okay day in spite of traveling, working out and grocery shopping.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the day as a 8.
