BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- At least 10 people were killed and 15 others wounded Wednesday in an explosion after a fuel truck collided with a bus at an intersection in Baghdad.
The truck exploded near a police station, leading Iraqi officials initially to suspect that the blast was an attempted attack. U.S. officials later said the explosion was an accident.
Video of the scene showed several vehicles on fire. By daylight, Iraqi police inspected two burned cars and a crushed and charred passenger bus, which sat in the middle of the road.
Witnesses said the truck sped through an intersection in the Bayah district of the Iraqi capital before it exploded at 6:45 a.m. (10:45 p.m. Tuesday ET).
