Israeli sources: Tourist dies after shooting, gunman slain
JERUSALEM (CNN) -- An Ecuadorean tourist visiting the Middle East was fatally shot Wednesday by a Jordanian gunman at the Rabin border crossing separating Jordan and Israel, hospital officials said.

Four other Ecuadorian tourists crossing into Israel from Jordan were wounded, Israeli officials said.
Israeli security guards shot and killed the gunman, who also was heading into Israel from Jordan. Officials in Jordan said the gunman was from the middle Jordanian town of Zarqa.
The attack occurred near Eilat on the Gulf of Aqaba. The foot crossing has been open since Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994.
The tourist, a 33-year-old woman, died of her wounds at a hospital in Be'er Sheva, an official there said. She had been taken to a hospital in Eilat with the other four and was then taken to the Be'er Sheva hospital.
On Tuesday, two Israeli soldiers were killed at a roadblock near the West Bank city of Bethlehem.
According to Israeli sources, a Palestinian man -- with a rifle concealed in a mat -- approached the roadblock and opened fire from a distance of about 15 meters (49 feet). The gunman then fled into Palestinian territory.
