Attacks near Tikrit leave one U.S. soldier dead
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A trio of attacks on U.S. troops in northern Iraq have killed one American soldier and wounded five others, the Coalition Public Information Center said Monday.

Since the Iraq war began in March, 327 U.S. troops have been killed, 210 in hostile attacks.
One soldier was killed and another was wounded near Baiji, north of Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, when their Bradley fighting vehicle hit an anti-tank mine while on patrol around 7:45 p.m. (12:45 p.m. ET) Sunday. The Bradley was destroyed in the incident.
Later in the evening around 9 p.m. (2 p.m. ET), one soldier was slightly wounded when a three-Humvee patrol was hit in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack near a U.S. base north of Tikrit.
In an earlier attack, also near Tikrit, an IED exploded at 2:10 p.m. (7:10 a.m. ET) Sunday in between two Humvees, lightly wounding three soldiers -- one had a shrapnel wound, the other two had slight concussions.
