Officials: Jenin governor abducted
JENIN, West Bank (CNN) -- Kidnappers abducted the governor of the district of Jenin early Saturday, forcing him from his car and beating him, the governor's office told CNN. It is not clear who is behind the abduction of Haider Irsheid, who was driving through the center of the city of Jenin when he was abducted. Witnesses identified the kidnappers as members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. The Palestinian Authority district includes the city of Jenin and a nearby refugee camp.
