Saddam appears on television, chairing meeting

BAGHDAD, Iraq (Reuters) -- Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was shown on Iraqi state television on Saturday chairing a meeting of his ministers and senior aides.

The television announcer said the footage was shot on Saturday but there was no way to verify that independently.

Saddam has appeared several times on television, twice to address the nation, since the United States tried to kill him in a cruise missile strike on Baghdad on March 20 at the start of their war to disarm Iraq.
