Americans in UAE warned to avoid nightclubs
Embassy in Abu Dhabi: Terrorist attack possible
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- Americans in Dubai were warned Sunday to avoid nightclubs because they could be targeted by terrorists.
"The U.S. Mission ... has received indications of a possible terrorist attack against nightclubs in Dubai. Americans are urged to avoid such locations," a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi said.
The statement offered no specifics and repeated a warning issued this month that Americans in the United Arab Emirates should "exercise caution and take prudent measures to maintain their security," including avoiding crowds and keeping a low profile.
A senior UAE government official told CNN that the U.S. Embassy there issued the Dubai warning on the basis of information from the FBI.
The official said he knew no more details, but added, "We've been since September 11th implementing precaution measures and will continue to do that."
