Inspectors continue weapons hunt
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- U.N. weapons inspectors searching for evidence that Iraq is developing weapons of mass destruction visited six sites Tuesday, including a lab, a missile plant, and military warehouses. Iraq's Ministry of Information said inspectors went to locations across the country: • A missile team went to the Al Zafraniya laboratory outside of Baghdad. • A second team of missile experts went to the Hottain Company, part of Al Mutasim company -- a government missile plant occupying the grounds of a former nuclear facility. The site is in Jurf Al Sakhar, about 70 km (43 miles) south of Baghdad. Inspectors have been to the complex twice before. • A biological team traveled to military warehouses in Al Tagi, a rocket and missile component factory, 30 km (19 miles) north of Baghdad. The site was a primary location for Iraq's long-range missile program. • Another biological team was at the Al Rabee center in Baghdad. • Nuclear experts went to the Al Qaqaa complex in Yousefiya, about 30 km (19 miles) south of Baghdad. Previously, Iraq's nuclear program used the site for the production of high explosive lenses, detonators and propellants for nuclear weapons. • A second nuclear team traveled 80 km (50 miles) west-southwest of Baghdad to Thu al Fiqar (Dhu al Figar), part of the Balat al Shuhada complex. The facilities at the site were responsible for the development of the Badr 2000 missiles, designed for a range of around 1,000 km (620 miles).
