(CNN) -- Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller was injured Thursday in a helicopter crash just south of Warsaw as he returned from a coal miners festival in the southern part of the country, officials said.
Wojciech Szelag, editor of Polsat News, a Polish television station, said the prime minister's leg was broken and he suffered other injuries, but none that are considered life-threatening.
Miller was taken to a hospital in Warsaw.
The helicopter was believed to have been carrying as many as 12 people. There were some other injuries, Szelag said, but no deaths were reported.
The editor said the helicopter's engines stopped in mid-air and it made a very hard landing near the Warsaw suburb of Piaseczno around 6:45 p.m. (12:45 p.m. ET), destroying the aircraft.
The festival Miller had been attending was in the region of Katowice.
