LONDON, England -- A UK taxi driver is to give up his cab for a life on the Spanish coast after winning £14 million in the lottery.
Robert Frazier described how his eyes "glazed over" when he discovered he had won one of the biggest wins in the history of the country's National Lottery.
Frazier, who has been a cabbie for 20 years, said he realized he had won after checking the numbers on the television after a nightshift in the early hours of Sunday.
He had just grabbed a cold lager from his fridge at his home in Newcastle upon Tyne when he focused on the lucky numbers.
"I felt my eyes glaze over and I kept shaking my head, trying to focus on the Teletext page to double check I had got it right," he told the UK's news agency Press Association.
The total win of £14, 265,140 in the Lotto Extra was the eighth largest jackpot in the history of the National Lottery. It had grown to such a large sum after a four-month rollover.
The 58-year-old now plans to fulfill his dream of moving to the Spanish coast with his wife. He also intends to travel in style from now on, swapping his taxi for a top of the range Mercedes.
